Club Racing

If your interest is sports car racing at the club level, West has you covered!  The WX10 and/or WR1000 is ideally suited for club racing in SCCA or NASA - the two primary club racing organizations in the United States.  Both venues offer different classes and levels of racing for novices as well as advanced drivers.

scca_1.jpgThe SCCA offers two different classes to compete with the West.  The DSR class has an engine size limit of 1 litre and the CSR class can accept engines up to 1.6 liters.  However, any car that qualifies for DSR can also run in CSR with the same trim and setup as DSR.  This allows the West to run in either class and be competitive in both!  Additionally, if you want to focus on CSR, a Suzuki 1300 (or built version of the Suzuki) or Kawasaki 1400 engine can be used.  SCCA offers two levels of racing within these classes...Regional and National.  The Regional level series is designed for the novice racer, or anyone who just wants to have fun racing at a less serious level.  The regional championship (SARRC) is held in September at Roebling Road and always proves exciting.  The National level series is for the driver who wants to compete against the "best of the best" throughout the year, with a showdown in early fall.  This year the SCCA National Runoffs event is being held in Topeka, but starting in 2009, Road America will be the host for the next 3 years...an amazing track that tests both driver and car to the limits!  For more information on SCCA go to www.scca.org or for the Southeast Region website, visit http://www.sedivracing.org/.

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) was formed in 1991 to deliver high quality motorsports events to enthusiasts at major racing venues throughout the nation. NASA has created programs for the sportsracer to enjoy the full performance capabilities of their cars in a safe and controlled environment. NASA offers many different programs for both the novice as well as the advanced driver that will allow you to enjoy motorsports on a number of different levels. If you are interested in learning the bnasa_1_1.jpgasics of High Performance Driving, or simply want to drive your car on a racetrack in a controlled and professionally staffed environment, then HPDE is for you. HPDE gives drivers a chance to test their skills and learn from NASA’s cadre of experienced instructors in a venue designed for safe spirited driving far away from the risks present on the street. NASA’s HPDE program has become the standard for the “open track” industry and features multiple skill levels to ensure that drivers are able to enjoy a safe and fun day at the track.  And if you are interested in wheel to wheel racing, then Nasa's competition racing program is for you. If you do not posses a competition license, NASA has programs that will allow you to participate in a racing school to become qualified to race. If you are currently racing with another recognized organization, NASA welcomes you to our program and accepts competition licenses from many different sanctioning bodies.  For more information on NASA and its program, visit www.nasaproracing.com.

West has years of racing and service experience in the sportsracer market.  Through much preparation, drive, ambition and knowledge, our results have been awesome - many 1st place wins in regional and national SCCA competition, as well as podium finishes at the SCCA National Runoffs! Our full-service shop and facility can handle anything you need for your West racecar, from standard maintenance, to chassis repair work, to dyno performance tuning and more…we can do it all! Listed below are just a few of the benefits you’ll receive from signing up with team West:

At-Track Service:West assigns a designated crew member to your car so you will always have a “goto” guy to assist you with all of your needs throughout the event.  We keep a personalized crew book for every driver with detailed check-lists of action items to perform – before and after every session.  We keep full logged details of your sessions, including tire pressures, lap times, setup changes and driver debriefs (more on this below).  And if damage or repair work is needed on your car from anything happening on-track, no additional labor charges will be incurred.

A Focus On Performance!  We have extensive experience with sports racers, and use data analysis to understand how to make the driver and car perform better for every session!  You will have a “debrief” with your engineer after each session to determine any issues with your car or driving needs.  We then analyze all data across all cars to determine the optimal setup on the car and to help point out areas of improvement for the driver.  Being able to compare your data against other team members will get you up to speed quickly and help you to most effectively traverse the course.

Car Insurance.  West can provide you with quotes for “off-track” as well as “on-track” insurance for your car!  Off-track insurance will insure your car while in our shop, during transportation, and while at the race event (except on-track).  On-track insurance covers you against car damage while you are on the circuit (engine failures not included).  Deductibles will be your responsibility.  Contact West for more details and/or to request the insurance contracts.

No cost for crew.  Many teams will charge you for crew travel, hotels and food.  All of this is included in the service price for your West event..

Use of the West race rig with a modern driver's lounge, your own personal locker space for helmet, race suit and other items, and a big screen TV. Drinks and snacks are also provided throughout the event.  Frequently we have evening barbeques and socials as well as cookouts for lunch.

Use of Racing Radios. We use high quality Motorola radios, all setup on the same channel.  You supply your own microphone and car radio mount, we provide the radios and crew support while you are on the track.
